LED lighting upgrade in five multi-level public carparks in Bankstown CBD
Bankstown City Council
Bankstown City Council was awarded Australian Government funding to upgrade existing lighting to energy efficient LED lighting in three multi-level carparks. This was the first time Council had installed LED lighting across an entire site.
Need for project
Due to the age of the carparks, Bankstown City Council found that the existing lighting was sub-standard and no longer met Australian lighiting standards. Upgrading the carpark lighting has reduced energy consumption and maintenance costs as well as brought the lighting up to current Australian Standards.
Project deliverables and outcomes
The project represents energy savings of around 25-30% and with reduced energy and maintenance costs, the pay back period is around 2.2 years.
The upgraded lighting has also improved visibility and safety in the carparks for both drivers and pedestrians.
