Corryong Neighbourhood Centre received Australian Government funding to install energy efficiency upgrades at four facilities in Corryong, Victoria.
Need for project
Corryong Neighbourhood Centre is a located in an isolated rural community. The swimming pool upgraded is the only public swimming facility in the area. It offers swimming lessons, a swimming club and recreational facilities. The Youth Hall is utilised by the local Foodbank, as a low cost venue for functions and is available for use by local and as the local emergency response facility. The Corryong Neighbourhood Centre is used to co-ordinate adult education (both vocational and hobby) and offers their facilities for use by community groups and clubs.
Project deliverables and outcomes
Upgrades were made possible with Australian Government funding and a co-contribution by the Corryong Neighbourhood Centre (including donations from Upper Murray Health & Community Services, Corryong Lions Club, Towong Shire, the Corryong Amateur Swimming Club and Bendigo Bank).
Upgrades were made to the roof insulation and window glazing at the Corryong Youth Space and Corryong Neighbourhood Centre. Solar Pool heating and thermal blankets were installed at the Corryong Swimming Pool.
This Activity received funding from the Commonwealth of Australia as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
