City of Vincent community energy efficiency upgrades - Administration Centre, Library, Recreation Centre, Leisure Centre, and Tennis Club
City of Vincent
The City of Vincent received Australian Government funding to make energy efficient upgrades at various facilities in the Leederville Western Australia area.
Need for project
The City of Vincent’s facilities service large numbers of people from low socio-economic and disadvantaged groups in the wider Perth metropolitan community and beyond.
The Beatty Park Leisure Centre runs programs for adults and children with disabilities. The centre is also used by Reclink WA, with clients including people affected by mental illness, disability, homelessness, substance abuse, addiction and social and economic hardship.
The Library provides a home-delivery service for house-bound readers and a mobile library service to local nursing homes. It also hosts tax-help services for people on low incomes.
Project deliverables and outcomes
Using Australian Government funding and a co-contribution by the City of Vincent, energy efficient lighting, occupancy sensors and real time energy monitoring with public displays was installed at the Beatty Park Leisure Centre, Leederville. Real time energy monitoring with public displays were also installed at the Library and Local History Centre and Administration and Civic Centre, Leederville, Western Australia.
Heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrade utilising geothermal energy and building management system (BMS) integration at Beatty Park Leisure Centre was not undertaken due to ongoing maintenance issues.
Energy efficient lighting and occupancy sensor retrofits at the Loftus Recreation Centre, Leederville and Robertson Park Tennis Centre, North Perth were also removed from the project scope.
This Activity received funding from the Commonwealth of Australia as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
