The City of Armadale received Australian Government funding to retrofit internal and external lighting and to upgrading ceiling insulation at the Champion Centre, Seville Grove, Western Australia.
Need for project
The City of Armadale is a medium sized regional council. The Champion Centre provides a culturally appropriate setting for the provision of services and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Activities operated from the Centre are provided by agencies, non-profit organisations, Council staff and other community groups working in partnership with the City of Armadale. This project enhanced the thermal amenity of the Champion Centre whilst providing increased security for patrons and staff.
Project deliverables and outcomes
Using Australian Government funding and a co-contribution by the City of Armadale, retrofits were made to internal and external lighting with LED and upgrades were made ceiling insulation at the Champion Centre. These upgrades resulted in improved energy efficiency, reduced utility bills, improved thermal comfort and lighting and improved security. The project also increased community awareness of energy efficiency.
This Activity received funding from the Commonwealth of Australia as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
